Every year as part of our statutory responsibilities we have to inspect trees on the Commons to ensure their safety. The tree inspection work for 2017 was completed in late November and this year concentrated on St Pauls Cray Common, most importantly St Pauls Cray Rd, but also included the high risk zones of Bromley Rd/ Bromley Lane, Prickend Pond and St Nichs School. Approximately 20 inspection sessions were carried out over an 8 week period with over 1,000 trees inspected.
The inspection process identified a number of trees which require further investigation. An Oak tree by the side of St Pauls Cray Rd with a large split in the trunk (see photo) and a Lime tree in Bromley Rd required urgent attention and have been dealt with.
